Aqua-Tots Swim Schools Doubles October Donations!

There are more women with breast cancer in need than Provision Project is able to help.  The longer wee’re around, the more applications we receive. Every personal and business donation allows us to help increasing numbers of women.

Aqua-Tots Swim Schools’ sponsorship of October Matching Mondays with donation of $5,000 allowed Provision Project to DOUBLE the funds we have available for women in need. We are so grateful.

Having committed business partners in the communities we serve is a huge blessing to those of us who serve at Provision Project. Aqua-Tots Swim Schools is an amazing, family-focused business that is dedicated to reducing childhood drownings by teaching children to swim through a safe and quality swim program. Their franchises can be found all across North America, Middle East, and Europe, with locations in Southeast Asia, Africa and Central America to come.

Double Your Donations on Mondays in October

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and the country is turning pink!  But EVERY month is Breast Cancer Awareness Month at Provision Project, where we provide financial relief for women in active treatment for breast cancer.  Often that financial help is in the form of utility payments to keep the lights on, rent/mortgage payments to keep a roof over a family’s head, and medical co-pays so the woman can get life-saving treatment in a timely manner.

Aqua-Tots Swim Schools has teamed up with Provision Project, a local Arizona-based non-profit organization to sponsor “Matching Mondays” in October.  Every Monday in October, Aqua-Tots Swim Schools will provide a 100% match for all donations to Provision Project up to $1,000.  Donors will be glad to know that 93 cents of every dollar donated in 2017 has gone directly to Provision Project applicants.

Aqua-Tots Swim Schools wants to provide a catalytic effect on families in their communities through their support of Provision Project. They know a breast cancer diagnosis can quickly create a financial crisis in a family. Aqua-Tots’ Co-Owner and Founder Ron Sciarro says, “We provide 75,000 swim lessons in our communities every week. The community is taking care of us, and we want to take care of the community.”

Please help Provision Project and DOUBLE your donation by going to www.provisionproject.org on Mondays in October!

Provision Project Is Proud to Participate in Arizona Gives Day, April 4, 2017

Provision Project will be joining Arizona Gives Day, along with hundreds of other nonprofits from all over the state on Tuesday, April 4, to raise much-needed funds. Through azgives.org, donors will be able to support their favorite nonprofit(s) for exactly 24 hours of virtual giving to strive for additional cash incentive prizes. Sponsored by FirstBank, this 5th annual day of fundraising is a community-led effort to invest in our state. Arizona Gives Day has raised $7.4 million for Arizona nonprofits since its founding in 2013.

Provision Project is an Arizona-based non-profit organization that serves women with breast cancer across the country. Founder Jan James says, “We’re very grateful that Arizona has a focused day of giving that will allow all non-profits like Provision Project attract new donors and highlight their mission to the public.”

Breast cancer affects families in devastating ways. Most people think of the physical side effects that women endure when going through treatment. But the financial side effects of breast cancer can be catastrophic to many families. An unexpected, life-threatening illness can make paying the most basic of bills impossible. Provision Project is there to help with emergency provisions, standing in the gap when women have nowhere else to turn.

From now until 11:59 p.m. on April 4, supporters of Provision Project can go to azgives.org and select Provision Project to make a direct contribution. These donations are crucial to helping fund our efforts throughout the year.

About Provision Project

The mission of Provision Project is to provide financial relief to women in active treatment for breast cancer. The breast cancer battle is real. The news of diagnosis is hard to receive. Treatment is scary. And for some women, life has become nearly impossible. Marriages have ended. Jobs have been lost, or they’re too sick to work. Now, in addition to fighting for their lives, they are battling to keep up with the most basic of bills: food, rent, utilities, gas, medical co-pays.  It’s heartbreaking.

That’s why Provision Project was created.  Provision Project makes a way for women in active breast cancer treatment to receive tangible help quickly. We hope you’ll join us.

Save the Date for Tee Off for Pink!

You’re in Phoenix at the iconic Arizona Biltmore Golf Club. You’re looking out onto the beautiful Adobe course. Wait. WAIT. What is happening? What is THAT in the distance? Are there CARS sitting on the course? LOTS of CARS?

YES! Please save Saturday, September 30, for “Tee Off for Pink,” Provision Project’s golf tournament/fundraiser. This tournament date is the Saturday before the Biltmore will overseed the Adobe Course for winter grass.  All 18 tee boxes will be moved in order to make the yardages between 145 and 191 yards, making each hole “hole-in-one possible.”  A brand-new car from 18 Valley dealerships will be sitting on each of those tee boxes, allowing players 18 opportunities to shoot a hole-in-one to win a new car!

This unique tournament format is sure to make for a memorable and fun day of golf. We hope to see you there!

Stephanie’s Story – “A Lump and a Bump”

What does breast cancer “look like” to you?

Stephanie was 30 years old and 17 weeks pregnant with her fourth child when she was diagnosed with breast cancer.

Provision Project has met many women who have endured breast cancer treatment while having a baby on board. It’s a miracle to see beautiful newborns born perfectly healthy. The way our bodies are made is so amazing … women are usually able to have chemotherapy without harming their baby in any way. And many babies are born with a full head of hair!

Natalie, the “Bump,” was born in June 2013 and continues to thrive in every way. Hear her and Stephanie’s story here.

Thank You for an Amazing 2016!

by Rashida Willard, Provision Project Executive Director

Dear Friends and Supporters,

Thank you for a wonderful year! Thanks to our faithful donors, we have been able to help 33% more women than we did in 2015. We are humbled by the outstanding display of kindness you all have shown our organization.

We at Provision Project are in the business of providing hope. For our applicants, the stress of a new diagnosis while having to simultaneously juggle bills can be overwhelming. We want to provide that small bit of hope that, while things may seem bleak, there is light.

We are committed to helping more women fight this breast cancer battle. Our hope is that they continue to find the light in their journeys. Our hope is that you will continue to stand with us and walk beside us this year. Help Provision Project provide financial relief for women going through breast cancer treatment.

Thank you again for being a part of our team this year.

“Helping Hands” Got Tiffany’s House Painted!

Tiffany is a beautiful single mommy of an 11-year-old daughter. And she’s fighting metastatic (stage 4) breast cancer. A few years ago, their family purchased a home that had been in foreclosure, and the mortgage payment is low.  Tiffany is unable to work, and finances are tight. But they’re making it.

Last summer, Tiffany received a letter from her homeowner’s association, telling her that she needed to have her home painted by a specific date. Where was THAT money going to come from? It seemed like an impossible situation to resolve.

Tiffany contacted Provision Project to ask if they could help. Provision Project’s “Helping Hands” program matches local small businesses with women in active treatment for breast cancer who need home and transportation services. A generous local painter talked to a generous paint company …. and off they went, saving her thousands of dollars! Tiffany’s home was painted in a few weeks, and she could rest easy, knowing her home value had increased and that it wouldn’t need to be painted again for many years.

If you know of a business in your area that would be interested in being on Provision Project’s “Helping Hands” list, please email Jan James at jan@provisionproject.org. This information is kept confidential and is only used when a need arises.

Behold the Dandelion

by Jan James, Provision Project Founder

Behold the dandelion.

A weed?

Perhaps.

But maybe something else.

A sign of perseverance.

A sign of strength.

A sign of resilience.

A sign of HOPE.

When you donate to Provision Project, you donate HOPE. And women fighting breast cancer definitely need HOPE.

When you’re battling breast cancer, you have a LOT to worry about. Why are they asking ME to make decisions about treatment …. Aren’t THEY the experts? How will I tolerate my treatment? How will my family respond to me not being 100%? Will my friends stand by me or desert me? How much pain will I be in? How am I going to do everything I normally do AND fight cancer? Who can I ask for help (since I’ve always been so independent)? Will my family think I’m a burden? Am I going to wake up from surgery? Will I still be able to work? If I can’t, will I still have a job when I get back? How will I pay for treatment? Does this mean my daughters will get breast cancer? Will I get to see my children grow up? Am I going to live? Will I leave my children without a parent? Will I leave my parents without a child?

When you donate to Provision Project, you let the woman fighting breast cancer worry a bit less. You’ll help her pay her medical co-pay this month. She’ll have enough gas to get to life-saving treatment. She’ll have food for her kids. Her electricity will stay on! You will give her HOPE that she’ll get through this horrible process. That there is light on the other side. That there are people who care.

Being diagnosed with breast cancer is something a woman rarely sees coming. But no one talks about the financial battle that many women face during their treatment. You don’t see it coming, and you can’t plan for it. When there just isn’t enough money for the basics of life, there aren’t many places to go for help. Through your generosity, Provision Project can help bridge that financial gap for the women we serve.

Behold the dandelion.

A sign of HOPE.

“Helping Others, Providing Essentials.” HOPE.

‘Tis the Season

Word from the Executive Director, Rashida Willard

Merry Christmas to you and yours!  ‘Tis the season…

…To reflect… What a year Provision Project has had! We have been busy helping breast cancer patients with their real and urgent financial needs. Some were single mothers just trying to keep the lights on, some were women that had to travel 2-1/2 hours just to get treatment, and others were on the brink of eviction. Provision Project was there.

…To appreciate… Huge thank you to YOU, our donor, supporters and biggest cheerleaders. You made it happen. Matching Mondays, Provide with Five, Giving Tuesdays — YOU answered the call. We would not be able to do what we do without you helping to carry the load. We hope that your support continues for years to come.

…To share… Continue to spread the word about Provision Project and what we are doing for breast cancer patients all over the country. We get so much joy every time we can provide financial relief to women in treatment for breast cancer.

Thank you for an amazing year and we look forward to great things in the future!

Merry Christmas.
